Hike #3 up Rock Canyon
Monday night we packed up the kids and hit the trail that goes up Rock Canyon. We only made it about halfway up the trail—the kids enjoyed watching the rock climbers and playing in the river and on the rocks so much we just let them. At the first bridge the boys and Brad hiked up to a cave that looked as though it was occupied (someone had a candle going). We met some new friends all along the way. One pointed out a couple of big-horned sheep on a cliff, another told us of more caves to explore along the way, and another showed us tricks his super cool dogs could do, and lastly, a friend from our neighborhood shared some stories and some herbal tea he was making. Gibson is such a great little backpacker, he sang all along the way and just as we were hiking down he finally fell asleep. We didn't leave the canyon until well after dark, making it to our car at about 10:30 pm. Again, fun had by all.
